The Economy Module is provided by the South West RDA Economics and Evidence Team, drawing fully on the  team’s expertise to provide objective analysis and research about the South West economy. We provide comprehensive data and information to policy makers and our partners in the South West Observatory network.

Key Facts

  • In 2008 the South West's GVA was £97.8 billion
  • In terms of GVA per head, the South West is the most productive English Region outside the Greater South East and East of England.  GVA per head was £18,782 in 2008. 
  • There is considerable variation in productivity within the region - GVA per head in 2007 ranged from 63% of the UK average in Torbay to 151% in Swindon.
