South West Business Tracker - updated June 2012

An updated South West Business Tracker has just been published on the SWO Economy site, reflecting market conditions up to the end of May 2012 for some (not all) of the most significant publicly traded businesses in the region.

Generally all the markets were under pressure during May and this is reflected in the general performance of the South West Business Tracker. Stock markets have been affected by the continuing difficulties in the Eurozone - with the focus now firmly on Spain and its banking sector - whilst areas such as technology have been affected by the relatively troubled Initial Public Offering of Facebook in New York. Economic data released throughout the month indicated that overall conditions remained weak and this provided the market with no real confidence.
